Xuntian telescope will outperform Nasa’s Hubble: Chinese atronomers
China is preparing to launch a spacecraft called Xuntian, also known as the Chinese Survey Space Telescope or the Chinese Space Station Telescope (CSST). It is expected to be launched next year and will co-orbit alongside China’s Tiangong space station. Xuntian is designed to outperform NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and has a larger field of view. It is equipped with five observation instruments and will be used for astronomical research. Zhou Jianping, chief designer of China’s manned space program, says it is a highly anticipated project representing state-of-the-art technology in astronomy.
