North Korea criticizes pentagon’s WMD threat assessment
North Korea warned the United States on Wednesday that its military will execute “the most overwhelming and sustained response strategy” after the Pentagon issued a report on weapons of mass destruction last week that labeled the country a “persistent” threat. The Department of Defense’s “2023 Strategy for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction” stated that while Russia and China are the “principal WMD challenges, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Violent Extremist Organizations remain persistent regional threats that must be addressed.”
