Heavy rainfall, glacial flood led to disaster in Sikkim; 23 Army personnel missing, search operations underway

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has shared a detailed account of the flash flood in Sikkim. The primary reason for the sudden surge appears to be a combination of excess rainfall and a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) event at South Lhonak lake. The flood has caused significant damage to infrastructure and several people, including 23 Army personnel, are missing.
