During the India Today conclave, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis claimed that President’s rule in Maharashtra in 2019 was imposed with the consent of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. However, Pawar rejected this claim, stating that it was a decision made solely by the BJP government. Fadnavis further revealed that after the 2019 elections, the BJP and NCP were in the process of forming a government, but Pawar backed out and requested more time to assess party workers’ views.
