Mexico rejects new border wall plan ahead of talks with US officials

By on October 5, 2023 0 5 Views

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has rejected US plans to build new sections of wall at the US-Mexico border. He expressed his concerns about the authorization for the construction of the wall, calling it a step backward. The discussions between Mexico and the US are expected to focus on immigration, security, drug trafficking, trade, and investment. Lopez Obrador blames the extreme right of the Republican Party for pushing the Biden administration to approve new wall construction ahead of the US 2024 presidential election. He has also urged the US to support economic development in Latin America to control migration.
