Stalin announces aid of 13,500/ha for Kuruvai crop damage

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has ordered compensation of 13,500 rupees per hectare for farmers whose kuruvai crops have withered due to insufficient water supply. The chief minister has instructed authorities to assess the damage and provide compensation to affected farmers. The opening of the sluices of the Mettur reservoir on June 12 was delayed due to inadequate water supply from Karnataka. The AIADMK party has protested against the state governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for the poor supply to standing crops. The Mettur reservoir currently has a storage of 9.025tmcft out of its capacity of 93.47tmcft.
