IIT-H developing tech to address urban flooding

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad are developing an Urban Flood Information System (UFIS) to minimize the effects of urban flooding in Hyderabad. The system will collect and analyze flood-relevant data, simulate and forecast rainfall, study flood depths and extent, and develop products for policymakers and stakeholders. The researchers aim to make cities flood-resilient by integrating meteorological, hydrological, and stakeholder-relevant aspects. They are also working on weather, hydrology, and hydraulic modeling, as well as real-time flood information dissemination through social media platforms.
