Extra-time burst takes season’s rainfall to 98% of normal count
Kolkata has received a cumulative rainfall of 165.9mm in the first five days of October, helping the city reach 98% of its normal seasonal rain count. This is a significant improvement from the 86% covered from June to September. The heavy rainfall in October has reduced Kolkata’s seasonal deficit from 19% to 14%. The monsoon withdrawal date may be delayed this year, giving the city ample chance to make up the remaining 2% deficit. However, next week is expected to be drier with stable weather conditions.
