Missing mountaineer’s body found 1 year after avalanche

A team from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering has recovered the body of a mountaineer who went missing in a devastating avalanche at Mount Draupadi ka Danda last year. The body, identified as that of Vinay Panwar, was found near a crevasse on the peak in Uttarkashi. The search for the last missing mountaineer, Lt Col (Dr) Deepak Vashisht, has been temporarily halted due to recent earthquake activities in Uttarakhand. The incident occurred on October 4, 2022, when a team of mountaineers from the institute’s ‘Advance Mountaineering Course’ was struck by an avalanche.
