Pandemic put a break on female-led movies, says Bhumi Pednekar
The coronavirus lockdown affected the budget of women-centric films due to cost cutting, according to actor Bhumi Pednekar. She believes that the last successful female-led movie was “Veere Di Wedding”, and that the lockdown resulted in reduced investments in such films. Pednekar hopes that her latest film, “Thank You For Coming”, which explores themes of female desire and patriarchy, will help diminish the stigma around sexual liberation for women. She believes that good work in cinema will always be remembered and watched for generations.
