B’luru doctors reattach 4 of woman’s fingers in 12hr surgery

A farmer in Bengaluru had four severed fingers reattached in a marathon surgery. The fingers were stuck in a fodder-cutting machine, but timely medical intervention and proper preservation of the severed digits helped the woman recover. The surgery lasted 12 hours and involved reconstructing arteries, veins, nerves, tendons, and fixing broken bones. The surgeons involved worked simultaneously to reduce the surgery time. The patient is now on antibiotics and blood thinners and can expect to return to routine activities in 2-3 months.
