India and Sri Lanka have successfully conducted a trial run of a high-speed passenger craft for a revived ferry service between the two countries. The regular service, covering a 111km stretch in three hours, will begin on Tuesday. The vessel, called ‘Cheriyapani’, is operated by the Shipping Corporation of India under the ministry of ports, shipping, and waterways. The ferry will offer a hassle-free passage for people-to-people contact between the two nations.
