Preventable blindness in focus at 2-day meet of ophthalmologists
The Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India (IIRSI) organized a two-day meeting of ophthalmologists in New Delhi. Over 1,000 ophthalmologists attended the annual meet, which was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Birla emphasized the importance of timely intervention and public awareness in preventing and treating various eye conditions. Dr. Sachdev highlighted the increasing prevalence of myopia in urban children and the advancements in eye surgery that can help curb vision deformities. Dr. Agarwal emphasized the emerging need for refractive surgery due to the increasing prevalence of myopia. Cataract remains the most common cause of preventable blindness in India.
