Protesters hit streets seeking justice for Kamduni victim

Protesters in Kamduni and Kolkata have taken to the streets demanding justice for ‘Aparajita’, a college student who was gang-raped and murdered in 2013. The protests were sparked by the commutation of the death penalty for two of the convicts and the acquittal of the third by the Calcutta High Court. The protesters are calling for a CBI inquiry into the case and punishment for the accused. Political leaders from various parties have also joined the demonstrations. Family members of the victim plan to approach the Supreme Court against the High Court’s decision.
