Disaster mgmt field officer makes Durga idol from waste copper wire
Sanjib Basak, a government officer in Dhubri, Assam, has created a 10-foot tall idol of Goddess Shakti using e-waste copper wire to raise awareness about recycling. Basak, who has previously made idols using single-use plastic spoons and Covid-19 vaccine ampoules, aims to educate people about recycling and protecting the environment. The copper-wire idol will not be used for worship but will be displayed to promote the fruitful utilization of e-waste. Basak’s efforts have been widely appreciated, and several Durga Puja committees have expressed interest in showcasing his idols.
