Ultramarathon runner Pat Farmer completed his seven-month run at Uluru, a sacred indigenous site in Australia, to raise support for an indigenous advocacy body in the constitution. The indigenous voice to Parliament is a mechanism for indigenous Australians to advise lawmakers on policies affecting their lives. Despite polls suggesting it is unlikely to succeed, Farmer’s commitment to the cause was praised by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Recent polls show that while most Australians oppose the Voice, 59% of Indigenous respondents are in favor.
