The Uttar Pradesh director general of medical education and training has allocated Rs 6 crore from the state’s contingency fund to settle outstanding arrears for medical professionals. Over 250 medical staff at two hospitals in Pilibhit had boycotted OPD services to protest the non-payment of salaries for three months. The funds were also disbursed to 13 additional medical colleges to pay off accumulated salaries. However, the medical professionals have warned of suspending services again if salaries are not paid regularly.
