Supreme Court to spare 25% of its judges to hear long-pending cases

The Supreme Court on Thursday prepared the ground for scheduling the hearing of 10 batches of petitions – 177 cases for nine-judge benches and 73 for seven-judge benches – by asking the parties to prepare compilations of submissions, documents, and case laws to be cited during proceedings to adjudicate important constitutional questions, which included State’s competence to sub-distribute SC quota among more backward Dalit communities.
