Allow passengers to carry max one liquor bottle: Delhi govt to DMRC

By on October 13, 2023 0 17 Views

The Delhi government has asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to restrict passengers from carrying more than one bottle of liquor on the metro trains. The Delhi Excise Act states that only one litre of liquor in a sealed bottle can be brought from neighbouring states to Delhi. Violating this rule can result in imprisonment and a fine. Previously, DMRC had allowed passengers to carry two sealed bottles of alcohol per person on its network. The government’s request comes due to the difference in liquor prices between Delhi and neighbouring states, leading to smuggling.
