Oklahoma man hires private investigator with pandemic funds, gets himself cleared of murder

Ricky Dority, who was once serving a life sentence in an Oklahoma prison for a crime he claimed he didn’t commit, has been exonerated after using his pandemic relief funds to hire a private investigator. The investigator, along with students from the Oklahoma Innocence Project, uncovered inconsistencies in the state’s account of a cold-case killing. Dority’s conviction was vacated, and he now enjoys life on a 5-acre property.
