Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 17-km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut regional rapid transit system (RAPIDX) on Friday. The first train on this stretch may be operated by women pilots, making it the first of its kind in the country. RAPIDX will be India’s fastest urban transit system, with a maximum operational speed of 160 kmph. The NCRTC aims to complete the entire 82.15 km RAPIDX corridor by June 2025.
