Breakthrough technology to help save water, yield salt too!

By on October 17, 2023 0 19 Views

Scientists at the Central Salt Marine and Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI) in Bhavnagar, India, have developed a new membrane technology that ensures zero-liquid discharge from water purifiers. The technology selectively separates water and salt, allowing only water vapor to pass through the membrane and be converted into pure potable water. The impure water is crystallized and separated as non-edible salt. This technology not only conserves water but also recovers non-edible salt for industrial use. It is expected to benefit coastal areas with high salinity and total dissolved salts (TDS) in water.
