Worker trapped under soil at Smart City worksite dies

A 28-year-old labourer, identified as Angad Kumar, died after being trapped under a pile of soil at a Smart City work site in Ribandar, Goa. The incident occurred while Kumar was working on laying a sewer pipeline. Despite efforts to rescue him, he did not respond to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Police have registered a case of death by negligence against the contractor and site supervisor and are in the process of arresting them. The labourer was reportedly not provided with safety gear.
