Chennai court asks man to pay wife Rs 20 lakh for domestic violence

A man in Chennai has been ordered by a city court to pay 20 lakh rupees as compensation to his wife for physically and emotionally abusing her. The man, N Venu Kumar, had attacked his wife when she couldn’t make idiyappam as he wanted. The court found that the husband had suppressed his financial status and subjected his wife to domestic violence. The couple has also applied for divorce.
