‘Get us out of this hellhole’: SOS messages by UNRWA staff in Gaza detail desperation, fear

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has described the situation in the Gaza Strip as a “hellhole”. The agency’s staff, which includes teachers, doctors, and nurses, have reported feeling terrified and tired. Since the current conflict began, about one million Palestinians have been displaced, with nearly half of them sheltering in UNRWA schools. The agency has lost 14 staff members and many others have been displaced.
