Contrast in canal on either side of border makes Punjab’s intentions clear

The SYL canal, which runs between Haryana and Punjab, highlights the stark contrast between the two states. While the canal is operational on the Haryana side, it is abandoned and filled with silt and vegetation on the Punjab side. This signifies Punjab’s unwillingness to provide water to Haryana. The canal, which diverts water from the Narwana branch, is maintained by Haryana and can become fully operational once Punjab starts releasing water. The SYL canal was supposed to be a joint project between the two states, but Punjab failed to complete its portion.
