Diwali gift: Free LPG cylinder to Ujjwala beneficiaries in UP

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme in Uttar Pradesh will receive a free cooking gas cylinder as a Diwali gift. The promise for free distribution of LPG cylinders twice a year was made by the BJP in its election manifesto before the 2022 assembly polls. The scheme will be implemented in the run up to Diwali next month and is expected to cover around 1.75 crore families. The state government may opt for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to transfer the subsidy directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
