Well-known leader of a civilian ‘self-defense’ group has been slain in southern Mexico

Bruno Placido, a leader of a civilian self-defense group in Mexico, was shot and killed in Guerrero state. Placido organized villagers armed with old hunting rifles and small-bore shotguns to defend their communities against crime. His death follows the killing of another vigilante leader, Hipolito Mora, in a neighboring state.
