Situation in Gaza ‘catastrophic’: five UN agencies

The United Nations agencies have called for more international assistance as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip deteriorates. Israel has announced plans to increase strikes in Gaza, while the UN agencies highlight that over 1.6 million people in Gaza are in critical need of aid, with children, pregnant women, and the elderly being the most vulnerable. The agencies describe the situation as catastrophic and urge the world to do more to address the crisis.
