AAI to safely close midair gap between planes

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to reduce the lateral separation between aircraft from 10 nautical miles to 5 in order to accommodate more air traffic. AAI aims to achieve this objective within a year, after obtaining approvals from the aviation regulator. Nagpur airspace is being treated as a test case for this initiative. The expansion of aviation infrastructure in India, including the construction of new airports and the increase in fleet size.
