New rules to curb MBBS vacancies in 2024: DGHS
The Union health ministry will make it mandatory for students to take the seats allotted to them next year, in order to prevent wastage of MBBS seats. The Medical Counselling Committees of the Directorate General of Health Services has proposed important changes to the policy, including penalties for students who do not join their allotted seats and conducting simultaneous Central and State counselling. These changes aim to reduce vacancies and prevent blocking of seats during both counselling processes. Rationalization of fee structure is also being considered.
