World Cup: Defending champions England looking down the barrel after huge loss to Sri Lanka

England’s World Cup campaign is in jeopardy after suffering their fourth loss in the tournament against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka bowled out England for a low score of 156 and chased it down comfortably with eight wickets in hand. This defeat extends England’s losing streak against Sri Lanka in World Cups to five matches. Sri Lanka’s victory was fueled by strong bowling performances from Lahiru Kumara, Angelo Mathews, and Kasun Rajitha, as well as a solid batting partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama. England now faces an uphill battle to secure a spot in the semifinals.
