Delhi court grants divorce to couple ‘with no hope of living together’

A Delhi court has granted a mutual-consent divorce to a couple involved in an acrimonious matrimonial discord. The judge noted that refusing to dissolve the marriage would cause law-induced mental cruelty. The court also ruled that both parents would be legal guardians of their child, with the father having daily access and weekend overnight access. The court directed the mother to add the father’s name in the daughter’s school records. The judge divided the child’s expenses based on the parents’ incomes and called the order remarkable and progressive.
