Sudden transfer of 2 vets at BBP raises concern

Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) in Bengaluru has faced controversy recently, with transfers of its veterinarians causing concern. The park, home to over 1,000 animals, previously had three veterinarians, but two have been transferred without being replaced. BBP now only has one veterinarian working on a contract basis. The park’s executive director has communicated the need for more veterinarians, and the animal husbandry department has said there are several contenders for the positions. Some veterinarians have shown interest in wildlife postings despite the risks involved.
