Elon Musk’s X may launch a news distribution service

Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino discussed the changes and vision for X (formerly known as Twitter) during an all-hands meeting. Musk plans to launch a news distribution service called XWire, which aims to compete with platforms like Cision’s PR Newswire. Musk wants to make X a trusted news platform, encouraging citizen journalism and stating that relevant news is already available on X. In contrast, Instagram Threads, a competitor to X, is moving away from amplifying news on its platform. Meta, the owner of Instagram and Facebook, has had difficult relationships with news publishers.
