Rapper Badshah quizzed over promoting betting app

Rapper Badshah has been questioned by the Maharashtra cyber police for promoting the betting app FairPlay, which illegally streamed IPL matches, causing a loss of Rs 100 crore to media company Viacom18. Badshah’s lawyer clarified that he was questioned as a witness and not as an accused. Other celebrities, including actor Sanjay Dutt, may also be called for further statements. FairPlay is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate for money-laundering. Viacom18 has filed a complaint against the app for copyright infringement.
