Priyank Kharge, Karnataka IT minister, has stated that companies cannot force individuals to work extra hours and should not run sweatshops. This comes in response to Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy’s suggestion that Indian youth should work 70 hours a week. Kharge believes that companies should focus on productivity rather than the number of hours worked. He also appreciates Murthy’s contribution to the IT industry and acknowledges that there are differing opinions on the matter.
