Apple may look at India for development of new iPhone model
Apple may start developing a new iPhone model outside of China for the first time, with the iPhone 17 potentially being developed in India, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This move is part of Apple’s broader strategy to diversify its supply chain away from China. Last week, Tata acquired Wistron’s iPhone assembly plant in India for $125 million, and the proportion of iPhones made in India is expected to increase to 20-25% by 2024. Tata is well-positioned to take advantage of the Indian government’s production-linked incentive scheme for smartphones.
