Kabul warns Islamabad against cruel treatment of refugees
Afghanistan has criticized Pakistan for its treatment of Afghan refugees, calling the decision to expel them “unilateral” and urging Pakistan not to use force or seize their properties. The interim defense minister of Afghanistan, Mullah Muhammad Yaqub Mujahid, warned that the situation could seriously damage relations between the two countries. Pakistan, however, has opened more border centers to expedite the return of undocumented Afghan nationals, with thousands already crossing the border. Islamabad claims that over 1.7 million of the more than four million Afghan refugees in Pakistan are undocumented.
