Fiery Red Sunday: Max farm fires, in all Pb dists

Crop residue burning cases in Punjab have spiked to 3,230, the highest so far this season, with all 23 districts reporting fires for the first time. Sangrur district, the native area of Punjab’s chief minister, has been leading in setting fire to paddy straw for eight consecutive days. Out of the total cases, more than 75% were reported in the last eight days. However, the number of burning cases is lower than the previous two years, with a 40% decrease from last year. Paddy arrivals in mandis have reached 70% of the procurement target.
