Woman forced to lick spit, do 100 sit-ups for adultery

A married woman from Tisartetuka village, belonging to a minority community, was allegedly forced to lick spit from a panchayat member’s shoes, do 100 sit-ups, beaten with shoes, and fined Rs 56,000 for alleged adultery. She denied the charges and filed a complaint with the police, but they refused to register it. She then filed an online complaint, prompting immediate action from the district SP, who called it “shameful”. The local police station filed an FIR against eight persons. The woman also accused the police station of ignoring her complaint initially.
