Boost to BRS as EC okays disbursal of farmers’ aid

With the assembly polls less than a week away, the BRS government received a shot in the arm on Friday with the Election Commission approving the disbursement of Rythu Bandhu amounts to farmers in Telangana. Armed with ECI’s nod, the state government will start disbursing the scheme’s money in a day or two by depositing it into the farmers’ bank accounts, official sources said. Under the scheme, input support of Rs 5,000 per acre per farmer is directly transferred into the accounts of farmers.
