MBBS student dies of snakebite hours after receiving degree

A 21-year-old medical student, Adit Balakrishnan, died of a snakebite shortly after his convocation ceremony at Sri Siddhartha Medical College in Tumakuru. He was bitten by a venomous snake while returning from the convocation. Adit collapsed at home and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died. Autopsy revealed a high level of venom in his blood samples. Adit’s family, who had come from Thrissur, were waiting for his father to arrive from Italy for the last rites.
