Kerala doc dies by suicide after groom’s family cancels wedding

Dr Ruwise’s family demanded 150 sovereigns of gold, 15 acres of land and a BMW car as dowry. The family of 26-year-old postgraduate doctor Shahana had first agreed to give 50 sovereigns of gold, property worth Rs 50 lakh and a car. However, the groom’s family was not ready to agree for this and withdrew from the marriage. This had devastated Shahana and fell into a depression, her family said. According to the police, she took her life injecting a high dose of an anesthetic drug.
