Ten newborn babies died at Murshidabad Medical College Hospital in West Bengal due to lack of proper facilities and ongoing Public Works Department (PWD) work at Jangipur Sub-Divisional Hospital. The babies, most of whom were underweight and malnourished, were shifted from the SNCU at Jangipur to Murshidabad Medical College. A medical board of renowned doctors has been constituted to investigate the incident and the state health department has promised to prevent such tragedies in the future.
