Cop defaults on loan, recovery agents ‘target’ his colleagues

Cops at Vasai police station received threatening calls from female recovery agents of a private sector bank due to a colleague’s defaulted personal loan instalments. The defaulter cop, who had taken a loan of Rs 6.5 lakh, informed his colleagues about the threats and abuses faced by his family. The unidentified female callers abused the cops and demanded the defaulter be handed over. The police have filed a case of extortion and are investigating the calls made from different numbers. The defaulter cop claimed he did not wilfully default on payments and was facing a financial crisis.
