Robust HPV protection even if 1st dose in 15-18 ages
A study in India found that the age at HPV vaccination does not significantly impact the durability of the immune response. The study followed a cohort of unmarried girls who received one, two, or three doses of the quadrivalent HPV vaccine between the ages of 10 and 18. The study contradicts earlier research that suggested inferior immune responses in older age groups. The high protection provided by the vaccine is evident, as only one case of persistent HPV 16 and no cases of HPV 18 were detected in the single dose cohort. The World Health Organisation recommends a one or two-dose schedule for girls and women of various age groups.
