Usman Khawaja to challenge ban on Gaza message shoes
Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has challenged a ban on him wearing shoes during a match highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Khawaja, a Muslim, wore hand-written slogans like “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal” during training sessions. The International Cricket Council (ICC) prohibits messages related to politics, religion, or race during matches. In an emotional video message, Khawaja questioned the universality of concerns like freedom and equal lives, expressing his determination to seek approval.
