‘Denied rooms’, cops arrest Corbett resort owner

The inspector general of Kumaon range, Yogendra Singh Rawat, suspended Ramnagar SHO Arun Saini after a contempt petition was accepted by the Uttarakhand high court. The petition accuses Saini of raiding a resort in Corbett Tiger Reserve and arresting its owner, Rajeev Sah, for serving liquor to wedding guests in violation of the Excise Act. Sah spent the night in lockup before being released on bail. Sah filed a contempt case against the police officers involved, including Saini. The court has directed the DGP and principal secretary (home) to appear on the next hearing.
