Why domestic airfares are skyrocketing on some routes

Airfares on some domestic routes in India have tripled due to reduced competition, with only one or two airlines operating on many routes. Non-stop flights between Srinagar and Leh have seen a 229% increase in fares, while the number of flights on the route has significantly decreased.
